I acted as lead designer on the Sysco Gradireland Graduate Fair in 2023. This project encorproated many different elements, with the Brochure acting as the launch point for the event branding.

The first considerations for this project were developing a lockup and some key design elements which can be used across branding materials. It was important that all design was consistent with the Sysco Brand Guidelines, using the brand fonts and colours.

The “We are Sysco” lockup was chosen as it encompasses the community aspect which the client wants to evoke in this project. There was a push to highlight colleagues from the current graduate programme, and focus on a feeling of belonging.

I also pulled two elements from the Sysco Logo: the leaf and the slanted line from
the letter ‘Y’. These were used throughout the project to add a playful feel while
acting as a unifying element.

Some elements the client wanted to highlight were the current graduates in their programme, the Sysco trucks and a focus on a friendly and inviting design. I achieved this by focusing on strong imagery, tied together with the branding elements and friendly additions such as the handdrawn arrows and faint dotted pattern.

The next element completed for this project was the event stand itself. The goal was to make the stand eye-catching and inviting amongst the busy environment. It was also important that it reflected the previously approved artwork from the brochure.

For this I repurposed the truck imagery from the Graduate Brochure cover, using the headlights to frame the screen within the display. I exchanged the truck artwork for a simplied version with the “We are Sysco” Lockup. This was important to ensure each panel was branded so that the stand was recognisable from all angles.

Mocking up this part of the process was particularly important to ensure accuracy when built. I found my prior experience with other signage and packaging helpful here to ensure measurements were correct and to avoid misalignment.

Lastly it was important to produce marketing materials for the event, promoting Syscos participation in the GradIreland Fair while providing further information for those who may not be in attendance.

These materials included social media posts to promote the event stand itself, as well as specific avaialable positions. It also included a large banner for the event, and small double sided flyers to provide a more condensed version of the brochure for theose visiting the stand.
